What is Custom Web Design ?
Websites are visual introductory boards that
provide information to the services and products offered by the
organizations. A well-designed and customized web site design can
increase the business of organisations manifolds.
Here, we will be discussing the essential
components of customised web site building.
Selection of Theme. The first
step in the customised web designing is selection of the theme or
concept of the site. When we talk of concept we are referring to the
purpose of the site and service offered by it. Site could be a
portal or can be for some service sector like bank, life insurance
company, or could be for product promotion, online advertising or of
any NGO. According to the services offered by the site theme is
decided.
Unique Selling Point. After the
selection of theme, it is time to decide the USP of the site. You
need to don your thinking cap and zero on in the most unique aspect
of your site. That unique aspect or USP will be the focal center
while designing your site.
The idea behind USP is that your site should not
appear as a run of the mill product but a site that provides
exclusive services.
Site Appearance and Target
Audience. You also need to decide on the aspects like site
appearance and target audience. Site appearance would include
components like pattern of site, colour scheme, graphic, animations
etc. While, target audience includes the kind of people for whom the
site provides services.
For example, if a site is on computer games then
the visual effects should be designed keeping children as a target
audience.
Home page. The first screen that
displays any site is its home page. It is in vogue to design home
page like a cover of a magazine to provide maximum information to
the surfers. Nowadays, a technique called ‘splash screen’ is used
that makes home page more close to a magazine cover.
Home pages can be further categorised to give them
more vitality and appeal. There is a difference of opinion about the
selection of long or short home pages. Short pages are preferred to
give screen or monitor a fit look but fail to provide complete
information. On the other hand, long home page provides ample
information but you have to scroll your mouse through the page.
Sections. The sections, which are
attached to home page through links, are like chapters of the books.
Each section tells about a particular subject or the services
offered by you. For example, a site on web designing will have
different sections consisting of information about home page,
section, content, graphics etc.
Content. Content is the part of
designing that deals with text, graphics, and images used in the
site. It is through content you interact with your audience. Various
designing softwares like adobe, illustrator, dreamweaver, etc, are
used to give the site a pleasant look. At back-end, HTML, ASP, JSP,
etc, technologies are used for data collection.
Navigation. Navigation is as
important as any other segment of web designing. Navigation helps
you to surf through the different pages of the site, from home page
to last one. On home page, links or buttons serve as a means to
navigate through the site. On every other page, buttons or links can
be used to come back to home page.
In nutshell, it is suffice to say that combination
of above-mentioned aspects will make your site a customised platform
that will attract traffic in hordes thereby bringing business
opportunities too.
